As a key member of the marketing team, the Trade Marketing Assistant role will primarily provide support to the Trade Marketing Manager with the execution of the Trade Marketing strategy, which supports all programs directed at Petcurean's business-to-business [B2B] trade audience. The Trade Marketing Assistant will also help support the sales department by working to ensure marketing resources are fully utilized by the Sales Team, supporting the coordination and allocation of resources to influence increased sales, and reducing the administrative workload for all Sales Team members. This position will also contribute to maintaining and enhancing the culture of the organization.

The position will report to the Trade Marketing Manager with strong working relationships with the Trade Marketing Coordinator and the larger team within the Sales, Operations, Customer Service, and Marketing departments.



  • Executing path-to-purchase strategy. Contributes to point of sale (POS) and SWAG creative development; manages POS and SWAG inventory; oversees print and vendor partners
  • Supervising fulfillment and clearing house partners in Canada and the United States. Manages online ordering platform; coordinates Sales Team orders and delivery; tracks coupon redemption ROI; orders barcodes and manages coupon inventory
  • Product launch and trade show support. Supports critical path development and helps ensure all deadlines are met; contributes to custom promotional material creation; orders, packs, and ships all sales tools, POS, and SWAG materials for the booth and car kits; assists in selecting and shipping show apparel; manages product packaging inventory
  • Sales Team apparel and luggage management. Oversees procurement and vendor partners; provides creative input into item selection; directs catalogue creation; administers orders and shipping
  • Sales and Head Office administrative support. Communicates effectively with necessary stakeholders to ensure maximized use of available tools and materials; coordinates all shipping from Head Office; places office supply orders as required; assists with printing, photocopying, data entry, filing, etc. as required; assists with coordinating meetings and catering as required
  • Retailer onboarding support. Collaborates with Operations Team to create new product enrollment forms; compiles training and marketing material packages
  • B2B market research. Contributes to competitive set creation; administers surveys to trade audience; analyzes research materials to spot market trends and support product launches
  • Quality control support. Proofs copywriting, price lists, order forms, etc. as required
  • Additional duties as required. Provides a high level of organization and possesses a general willingness to roll up their sleeves and get the job done



  • High school diploma, plus some college courses or college diploma in marketing, customer service, business administration or related field
  • A minimum of 2+ years of marketing assistance or sales support experience in a busy office environment
  • Working knowledge of resource allocation, analysis, and records management
  • Proficient skills in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to adhere to and build on corporate brand standards and regulate the implementation of brand standards across the organization
  • Strong competitive price analysis and negotiation skills
  • Proven attention to detail, with office administration skills
  • An ability to multi-task, be flexible, and work effectively within a busy office environment
  • Effectively and professionally communicates both orally and in writing to external and internal stakeholders; is courteous, tactful, and diplomatic
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to take ownership of duties, work independently, and operate as an effective member of a team
  • Extremely organized with the ability to think on their feet
  • Proactive with the ability to problem solve; always seeking new and innovative strategies and ideas with a "can do" attitude

  • Capable of lifting and carrying 40 lbs boxes


Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position based out of the Petcurean head office in Chilliwack, with regular office hours from Monday to Friday.  However, the nature of this position is such that some additional time with notice may be required and there is a possibility of work on weekends or during the evenings. Some limited travel may be required.
