The Logistics Coordinator as member of the logistics team is part of Supply Chain Management within the Operations department and is a key member of the team responsible for Petcurean's supply chain.  This role is responsible for the coordination of Petcurean's transportation services and is the primary interface between Petcurean, the customer and the carrier.  This role is best suited for someone who copes well under pressure, is extremely organized, solutions focused, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.  The Logistics Coordinator within the logistics team is the first point of contact for the transportation needs of the internal and external customer and resolves any problems or concerns with the transport of shipments either to or from the warehouse or elsewhere.

The logistics team completes a wide range of tasks associated with the supply chain processes.This role is also responsible for collecting and distribution of various sets of documentation as part of the logistics package and may include customs documentation, new product registration for cross border distribution, and general regulatory and compliance documentation.

The logistics team members have a strong working relationship with the regulatory, order, and demand planning and inventory desks within the operations team. The Logistics Coordinators report to the Supply Chain Manager. This role is based at the Petcurean Head Office in Chilliwack, BC.

 

Responsibilities:

 As member of the logistics team you will have the following responsibilities:

  • While adhering to policies, procedures, and regulatory and compliance requirements internally and externally, schedule, dispatch and monitor deliveries to meet stakeholder's demand with little to no delay.
  • Maintains accurate computer records in the SAGE (MRP system) and MS Office Suite of programs of all transportation details, including dispatch files, records of customer requests, and work/services performed.
  • Using discretionary authority, ensure the transportation of freight on behalf of Petcurean and customers are handled efficiently and profitably and without loss or damage with Petcurean's best interest in mind.
  • Plan optimal loads for both domestic and export shipments and track the shipment of final products according to customer requirements through using Supply Chain Department tools.
  • Ensuring the quality assurance checks are always completed and maintained.
  • Research new and cost saving opportunities.

Customer Service

  • Providing prompt, polite and customer centric communication during the shipping and receiving of products both to and from the warehouse and manufacturers, as well as on behalf of customers
  • Providing a timely response to customer orders and requests, which can be urgent in nature
  • Fosters relationships with the Petcurean team, customers and carriers.
  • Maintains clear communication between Petcurean, customers and carriers
  • Accountable for anticipating and defusing potential problems, which could include face-to-face, phone or email interactions with customers and carriers.

Shipping & Receiving

  • Adheres to the regulatory and compliance procedures for all shipping and receiving tasks
  • Utilizing SAGE as Petcurean's MRP system and the MS Office Suite of Programs to schedule and track all pickup and delivery of product.
  • Awareness and thorough understanding of managing customs documentations, NAFTA requirements, as well as product registration (new and renewals) for export and cross border distribution as applicable to product movements across borders.

Administration

  • Compile document packages for the USA and export shipments
  • Ensure documented procedures are followed.
  • Advocates and follow work instructions.
  • Prepare report data and feedback to the Supply Chain Manager.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience as logistics coordinator or transport dispatch;
  • University degree or diploma in Business Administration, Transportation or International Commerce is an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of freight types, sizes, rates and rating methods.
  • Solid knowledge of geography and transportation methods, equipment and processes.
  • Exemplary customer services skills, in person, over the phone and over email.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; secondary language considered and asset;
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, sometimes urgent environment with a proven ability to remain calm
  • Understands the importance of attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Strong organizational and exceptional planning skills with the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines;
  • Strong abilities with MS Office Exceptional Excel skills;
  • Be well-versed in supply management principles and practices
  • Approachable, down-to-earth and fun-loving personality
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday.  However, the nature of this position is such that some additional time with notice may be required and there is a possibility of work on weekends or during the evenings.
